Periodontics
Tartar and calculus can build up over time if a patient is overdue for a cleaning. This tartar can form underneath the gums, creating inflammation that leads to bone loss and periodontal disease. Scaling and Root Planing, often referred to as a deep cleaning, may be needed to remove the excess subgingival build up. This will help restore the gingiva and surrounding periodontium to a healthy, disease-free state. Sometimes further treatment may be done, antibiotic gum therapy may be a good option if the deep cleaning is not 100% successful. If the disease remains and needs additional treatment, we have a slew of colleagues from which we can refer our patients to.
